When you make a gift to the Jacobs School of Engineering, you can choose to support the department, program or initiative of your choice. Following are a few of our current priorities for strengthening education & research that will drive innovation for the 21st century.
Enhancing the Student Experience
The Dean's Scholars of Excellence Program elevates our capacity to attract and support outstanding talent of this caliber from all backgrounds, ensuring that a Jacobs School education is accessible and affordable. We aim to broaden access to our world‐class educational experience by awarding scholarships and fellowships to students demonstrating outstanding academic merit from all backgrounds, including underrepresented students and students dedicated to making contributions to diversity, equality, and inclusion.
These awards provide students from wide‐ranging backgrounds the peace of mind they need to focus on school and excel in their studies and research. As we open doors for our Dean’s Scholars of Excellence recipients, we plan to ensure their success by offering supplemental support including mentorship, workshops, and advising. With the help of visionary supporters, we can shape the next generation of diverse problem‐solvers who will rise to the challenge of creating tomorrow’s sustainable technologies.

From day one of their undergraduate career, Jacobs School students are treated as engineers. Learn how you can support hands-on project courses that bridge engineering principles & real-world contexts.
The Jacobs School is transforming its undergraduate curriculum to ensure that hands-on engineering is a core component of every student’s training. From freshman through senior year, students will participate in progressively challenging projects that teach prototyping, project planning, systems-level thinking, team engineering & communication — in both research lab & real-world settings.
Your support provided state-of-the-art equipment, mentors & tutors, & additional resources to help our students discover the excitement of engineering while gaining valuable hands-on experience in our EnVision Maker Studio.
The Summer Engineering Institute (SEI) in the IDEA Center helps incoming engineering students transition from high school to a university-level engineering curriculum and build awareness of relevant campus programs and resources.
The IDEA Center aims to foster an inclusive and welcoming community, increase retention & graduation rates, and promote a sustainable culture of academic excellence among all engineering students at 鶹ý. The center provides engineering students with academic support and social engagement that enhances values of diversity for a global community. Invest in building a community of talented engineering leaders.

Named Endowed Fellowships
Increasing the number of graduate students is a strategic priority for 鶹ý. Graduate students conduct original research in pursuit of solutions to some of today’s most pressing challenges. They mentor undergraduates, collaborate with faculty and go on to launch start-ups & new technologies. Fellowships (graduate-level scholarships) strengthen the Jacobs School’s ability to compete with peer institutions for the best graduate students.
When you invest in graduate fellowships, your contribution achieves far more than supporting the education of an individual. It helps raise the caliber of research, education, and innovation across the Jacobs School of Engineering. Graduate students are vital to the Jacobs School. They fuel research, teach & mentor undergraduates, and help attract top professors.

Sparking Research & Innovation
Enables the Jacobs School to meet its highest priority needs, respond quickly to emerging opportunities and invest in promising areas of high potential. Your contribution to this flexible fund is an investment in the Jacobs School's mission of educating tomorrow’s technology leaders, conducting leading-edge research and translating discoveries that will benefit society.
Department Excellence & Innovation Funds
The 鶹ý Jacobs School of Engineering includes six academic departments which cross a broad spectrum of engineering disciplines. Support to any of these funds allow our departments to administer engineering undergraduate and graduate education programs, oversee our research laboratories, and provide the administrative home to our faculty.
Enriching Our Campus Community
In an effort to meet the needs of its growing student population, the Jacobs School of Engineering is in the construction phase of a free standing building that will feature 200,000 gross-square-feet of laboratories, classrooms, faculty offices, meeting space, an auditorium and café. The building will be designed to foster collaborations between various fields of research via shared laboratories and work areas. The new construction will make room for more faculty, which will improve student-to-teacher ratio.

Faculty & Postdoctoral Support
Faculty Endowed Chairs & Fellowships
Postdoctoral Endowed Fellowships
Endowed faculty chairs and endowed fellowships are vital to the Jacobs School’s efforts to attract and retain top researchers and educators. By creating named endowed chairs or faculty fellowships, you can support Jacobs School of Engineering faculty with sustained resources for their teaching and research.
Investments in faculty endowments enable the Jacobs School to compete for the very best in engineering. Once established, endowed faculty chairs provide a dedicated source of funds, in perpetuity, for the chair holder’s scholarly activities as well as support for faculty salaries and graduate fellowships.
Research Endowment Fund
Endowed research funds may be created to support undergraduate or graduate student research programs, or to recognize and sustain faculty research. The funds may also be used in the awarding of a research prize.
