About the Travel Fund

The Jacobs School of Engineering Student Travel Fund was established with generous donations from the 2013 graduating senior class in conjunction with the annualRing Ceremony. Through their giving efforts, our graduating students came together as Tritons helping to secure enhanced learning opportunities for future Jacobs School students. Seniors from each graduating class help to ensure this award will continue to assist rising engineers for years to come.

Today, Jacobs School of Engineering Student Travel Fund provides opportunities for undergraduate engineering students to apply for funds to assist with travel and lodging costs at conferences or competitions. A reimbursement of up to $300 can be made available to students on an annual basis. The selection committee will meet during the academic year to review applications and determine who is awarded with the fund.

As of January 9, 2025, the Student Travel Fund is no longer accepting applications for the rest of 2024-2025. Please check back for status updates.

ReuvenReyman
@ Toronto Metropolitan University Thrill Design Competition

“My team and I participated in two design challenges in which we were tasked with designing unique and breakthrough themed attractions under the judgement of employees from Universal Creative. This challenge has furthered my skills in mechanical design, operations and feasibility, and my passion for themed entertainment. Thank you, it is important for students to get the support they need to pursue engineering opportunities outside the confines of this university. Your funding helps support this initiative.”

David Yount
@ SpaceVision 2024

“To present SEDS@UCSD's Lander rocket vehicle, specifically the cryogenic bipropellant fluid system, as a SEDS chapter that is hosted at UCSD. Presenting at this conference helps UCSD keep its title as the most preeminent SEDS chapter in the organization. I was able to present SEDS@UCSD's first place award winning rocket fluid system on behalf of the university and network with peers and recruiters.”

BardiaKhosravi
@ Biomedical Engineering Society 2024 National Conference

“I want to sincerely thank the alumni and donors who supported me financially in traveling to the BMES conference. I am very grateful for the opportunity to attend this conference and for the lasting impact it has made on me that will surely benefit my future endeavors in diving deeper into research in cardiovascular biomechanical remodeling. Through this trip, I have been able to connect more with my peers from different universities engaging in similar and also very different fields of research as me at UCSD. Their support has allowed me to grow my network in the scientific and academic community exponentially, laying down the groundwork for applying to PhD programs and continuing my journey into cardiovascular research in order to eventually contribute greatly to healthcare solutions and advancing medicine in the long-term.”

Allison Chiang
@ AIChE Annual Conference

“I spoke to recruiters and graduate schools and got personalized feedback on my resume. I was a volunteer for the Chem-E Cube competition, where I networked with other Chem-E students from across the country and got the chance to understand a little bit more of the planning process behind such a large competition. Thank you for giving me this opportunity that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to attend."
