Computer science students qualify for programming World Finals

A team of Â鶹´«Ã½ computer science students has qualified to compete in the World Finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), the world’s preeminent programming and coding competition. 'It Feels Like I'm Talking into a Void': How Do We Improve the Virtual Classroom?

Researchers in the Â鶹´«Ã½ Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) wanted to look beyond the anecdotal evidence to better understand where remote education fell short and how we might improve it. In a study presented at the Association for Computing Machinery’s (CHI), the team examined faculty and student attitudes towards virtual classrooms and proposed several technological refinements that could improve their experience, such as flexible distribution of student video feeds and enhanced chat functions.   Full Story
